Smile and Feel Good
Jul 22, 2020
Smiling while doing something hard or difficult was something I was taught from an amazing soul and a superhuman.
Stig Severinsen has so many amazing achievements and I really felt as though everyone needs to know him and his work.
Just as an introduction to Stig, he is a 4 times world record holder for freediving. He wrote a book, The art of conscious breathing. Has the world record for a 22-minute breath-hold underwater.
Stig is a friend of Michael’s and as a family, we have been lucky enough that he has stayed with us in our home and shared some fun times.
I have learnt so much from Stig and smiling while doing something challenging is just the start of it.
I now go to the gym with the intention of taking the time to smile when I'm training.
And who cares if I look goofy while working out by myself smiling;)
Look I'm not smiling all the time but I defiantly smile when I want to lift a heavy overhead squat or do a strict pullup or I am doing interval training on the rower.
It seriously makes your training easier, you are basically tricking your brain to think this is fun, easy and happy. You will produce more of the feel-good hormones dopamine.
Give it a go you will feel fantastic.
In this ted talk, you will learn more about Stig and what breathing has done for him and how it has changed so many lives.
It’s such an interesting ted talk and yes it goes for a bit but listen to it in the car or with headphones while cleaning or cooking.
I always get goosebumps when I listen to amazing peoples stories
